Julie Thompson, PA-C discusses health disparities faced by gender-diverse people, and how clinicians can address these disparities productively in clinic. Thompson focuses on gender affirmation, both medical and social, as the bedrock of supporting gender-diverse people.
Thompson also discusses intersectional identities and how the marginalization of gender-diverse people can present as medical and mental health symptoms in clinic. The session concludes with a focus on how developing cultural competency is an important part of ending health disparities for the gender-diverse community.
