These advances include Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) as well as the newly FDA-approved Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP is the daily use of antiretroviral medication to help prevent HIV in uninfected high-risk people, while PEP is the short-term use of antiretroviral medication after a high-risk exposure.
